Connect for Education: Bridging the Gap for Students in Remote areas

Welcome foreign volunteers to the 111-2 Digital Learning Companion (DLC) Project.

DLC is one of the Ministry of Education’s social responsibility programs to bridge the gap for students in remote areas, enhancing their communicative skills and cultural exchange through online videoconferencing. Our project has been conducted in Taiwan for 6 years with diverse participants from America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Now we are looking for borderless volunteers (volunteers in Taiwan or outside Taiwan) to help us bridge the gap for students in remote areas.

*** What we do:

  • Design tutoring materials based on the given topics and have online one-on-one tutoring (tutoring from home).

***Who we’re looking for:

Volunteers from all backgrounds and experiences are dedicated and responsible for tutoring, willing to commit to 8 consecutive weeks, fluent in English (Chinese as a bonus), and have access to reliable internet.

***When you tutor:

  1. Monday Afternoon (18:00 – 20:00) (Class Time: 18:00 – 19:30)
  2. Tuesday Afternoon (16:30 – 18:00) (Class Time: 16:30 – 17:30)
  3. Thursday Afternoon (16:45 – 18:15) (Class Time: 16:45 – 17:45)

DLC will run for 8 consecutive weeks from March 27th, 2023 to May 19th, 2023. Please select a schedule that you can commit to for the entire 8-week period.

When joining us, you can

  • Have a unique opportunity to tutor and make friends with Taiwanese, enabling you to develop skills, build relationships, foster cultural exchange, and gain a greater sense of social values.
  • Receive a community service certificate.
  • For foreigners living in Taiwan, there is an additional opportunity to
    • Have a field trip to visit your partners in remote areas in Taiwan (Our project covers all expenses associated with this trip).
    • Get social practice credit (only NTUST students)
    • Join a competition for the best tutors, with the winners being awarded
      • 1st:  NT$10,000
      • 2nd: NT$8,000
      • 3rd: NT$5,000
      • 4th: NT$3,000
      • 5th: NT$2,000
