STUDY IN TAIWAN AT NTUST/TAIWAN TECH – NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (ENGLISH PROGRAM)

National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST/Taiwan Tech) was founded in 1974. On March 22, 2025, NTUST celebrated its 50th anniversary. Over the past 20 years, Taiwan Tech has trained nearly 1,000 Vietnamese students. After graduating, Vietnamese alumni have worked at universities in Vietnam and domestic and foreign enterprises and achieved many outstanding achievements.

Taiwan Tech is the leading technical university (Technological University System) in Taiwan, and is in the top 5 in Taiwan (according to QS Ranking – 392 in 2025). NTUST offers many scholarships for Vietnamese students and an international environment, with the number of international students being about more than 1,300 (accounting for about 10% of the total number of students in the school), Vietnamese students are second (after Indonesia).

NTUST has 7 Colleges/Schools, with English-taught programs listed below (1 undergraduate program with 4 engineering majors, 25 Master's programs, and 19 Ph.D. programs):

TRAINING TIME

  • University: 4 – 6 years (usually 4 years).
  • Master: 1 – 4 years (usually 2 years).
  • Ph.D.: 2 – 7 years (usually 3 years).
  • Undergraduate students can apply for fast-track to a master's degree in their third year, studying for a total of five years to receive a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, or an MBA (if they want to change direction to economics).
  • Master's students can apply for fast-track to Ph.D. in their second year, studying for 4 years to receive a doctorate (without a master's degree).

NTUST SCHOLARSHIP

  • University: Top 20% students, when evaluated by the admission committee, will receive 60,000 NTD upon admission to NTUST (IATP admission scholarship), received only once. After that, the faculty will base on the GPA of each semester to grant incentive scholarships (IATP performance scholarship: top 5% receive 60,000 NTD, top 6% - 10% receive 30,000 NTD, top 11% - 20% receive 20,000 NTD). In addition, students with GPA > 3.0 can receive NTUST international students scholarship (Financial Aid: scholarship level depends on the number of students applying for scholarships each semester). Students should consider applying for a scholarship from the Ministry of Education (MOE) at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vietnam/Ho Chi Minh City with a higher scholarship (tuition exemption, living expenses of NTD 15,000/month).
  • Postgraduate:
    • Full Scholarship: Students are exempted from tuition and credit fees, Master students will receive a living allowance of 12,000 NTD/month (for 2 years), and Ph.D. students will receive a living allowance of 18,000 NTD/month (for 3 years).
    • Partial Scholarship: Students are exempted from tuition and credit fees, Master students will receive a living allowance of NT$9,000/month (for 2 years), and Ph.D. students will receive a living allowance of NT$12,500/month (for 3 years).
    • Exemption from tuition and credit fees: Students are exempted from tuition and credit fees and pay their own living expenses.
    • Admission only: accepted to study but have to pay tuition and credit fees, and living expenses themselves.
  • Students submit their applications on the system, after the review board will rank the applications from top to bottom and award scholarships according to the above levels depending on the quota for each semester. The fall semester will usually have more scholarship targets than the spring semester. At the same time, students can receive financial support from professors or when doing projects in the lab.

  • Postgraduate:
    • Fall semester: September admission, January – March application.
    • Spring semester: admission in February, application submission in July – September of the previous year.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Apply through the school's admission system at the link corresponding to the program. https://admissions.ntust.edu.tw, after uploading the complete application, the system will send a request to submit a letter of recommendation (if any) to the recommender. After that, the student will pay the application fee of 30 USD or 1000 NTD to complete the application process.
