In 2018, the Taiwan Jobs Golden Card was launched to attract highly skilled talent to work in Taiwan. The yellow card is integrated with both residence visa (those who have not yet arrived in Taiwan), open work permit (not dependent on a specific workplace), residence card (ARC), import/export Multiple re-entry permit and duration can range from one to three years. The person submitting the yellow card may be in Taiwan or not yet in Taiwan. If you are granted a yellow card and have a doctorate in Taiwan, you are eligible to apply for a permanent residence card after three years. Additionally, there is no regulation on how long you need to be in Taiwan each year to maintain the value of your gold card.
Industry groups eligible to apply for yellow cards: Science and Technology, Economics, Education, Culture and Arts, Sports, Finance, Law, Architecture, Defense, and some other cases are recognized by the National Development Council. In particular, if you receive your doctorate at a school in the top 500 (QS World University Rankings or Times Higher Education World University Rankings), you are also eligible to apply for a yellow card.
You can apply online if you find yourself eligible, pay the application fee and wait for the results (the application fee will not be refunded even if you are not accepted for a yellow card). The time to complete the review procedure can be 30 days (if the application is accepted without additional documents) or up to 50 or 60 days if you need additional documents. After the application is approved, you will receive a notification email and bring your passport to check, then you will be notified of the final result and bring the corresponding documents when submitting the application to receive the card. Application fee: If you have a residence card, the fee is 1500 NTD (1 year), 2500 NTD (2 years), 3500 NTD (3 years), if you do not have a residence card, the fee is 3700 NTD (1 year), 4700 NTD (2 years), 5700 NTD (3 years), renewal fee is 1500 NTD (1 year), 2500 NTD (2 years), 3500 NTD (3 years).
From February 8, 2018 to June 30, 2022, 5,364 yellow cards were issued in the following fields: Science and Technology (1017), Economics (2958), Education (445), Culture and Arts (399), Sports (2), Finance (439), Law (10), Architecture (32), Defense (3), Cross-field (59).
Necessary documents when submitting application:
- Image
- Passport
- Current residence card (if any)
- Documents verifying capacity, if any: Ph.D. degree, certificate of capacity (as many as possible), confirmation of work unit, referral letter of work unit, salary slip within 1 year, ... All documents can be a plus point for the yellow card issuance process.
Note: There are many categories when choosing to submit an application for a yellow card, you should choose the category with the strongest strengths so that your application will be considered fastest.
